What’s New for 2025?
While the RAM 1500 is already chock-full of safety features, it’s getting a facelift this year. RAM bodly moved by adding advanced driver-assist features across more trim levels. No more splurging to buy top-tier models just to enjoy smarter and safer driving.
Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is now a standard across more trims of the 2025 RAM 1500 for a hands-free driving experience. This model also has Active Lane Management to keep the truck centered in its lane.
With RAM leaning into driver-assist technology, you will have higher confidence to take this vehicle for a drive.
Hands-Free Active Driving Assist (HADA)
The most notable safety feature added to the RAM 1500 2025 is the hands-free active driving assist, or HADA. It is a level 2 driver-assistance system that controls speed and steering. But unlike Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), you don’t need to keep your hands on the wheel.
But your RAM 1500 must be enrolled with RAM Connect, be in an area with usable cell range, and have an active subscription. This is because HADA currently works on pre-mapped, approved highways under ideal conditions.
Note: You can find these highways that support HADA in RAM’s TomTom map.
Its true hands-free driving experience is only possible thanks to the combination of several advanced safety technologies:
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Helps maintain a set speed and distance from other cars using radar, cameras, and sensors
Lane Centering Assist
Keeps your truck centered in its lane by combining lane-keeping assist (alerts when you cross lane markers) and lane-departure warning (actively helps you stay within the lines).
Driver Attention Monitoring
A driver-facing camera system continuously monitors your face and eyes to make sure you’re still paying attention to the road. If you look away too long, the car will alert you and possibly disengage you if you don’t respond.
The Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is most useful during long highway drives where holding the wheel for too long causes fatigue. Other situations in which this safety feature becomes useful include:
- Heavy traffic (constant stop-and-go movement)
- Night driving (more likely to feel tired)
- Monotonous routes (long hauls between cities or cross-country trips)
Currently, Hands-Free ADA is a standard safety feature on the Limited and Tungsten trims.
ParkSense® Automated Parking System
Whether newbie or experienced, parking your car is a stressful experience, especially in tight spots. But, the 2025 RAM 1500 has a special safety feature called the ParkSense® Automated Parking System. This helps drivers enter and exit parallel and perpendicular parking spots via sensors.
Aside from assisting you with parking the truck, these sensors also detect available parking spots as you drive by. It will then notify you on the screen if it finds a suitable space. The system will engage and take over the steering for you.
All you have to do is manage gear shifts, acceleration, and braking. Yet this is a “Late Availability” feature, meaning it may not be readily available on all trims at launch.
Evasive Steering Assist
Once your RAM 1500’s Frontal Collision Warning System detects a possible frontal crash and you try to steer away, the Evasive Steering Assist kicks in. This way, you can change lanes more safely and effectively.
This works with the Automatic Braking System. When the system detects your intention to swerve or change lanes quickly, it will give additional steering torque to help you get to the next clear lane without losing control or oversteering, thereby avoiding impact.
Intersection Collision Assist System
Intersections are considered high-risk zones, especially when traffic patterns are unpredictable or when you have limited visibility. To avoid crashes due to blind angles when crossing intersections, RAM added the Intersection Collision Assist System feature.
Unlike most car safety systems, sensors found at the front and sides of the truck alert the driver with a clear and audible tone when they detect an incoming vehicle directly ahead or from the side.
But in case you didn’t react quickly enough, Automatic Braking activates to lessen chances of a collision. This way, you have a second pair of eyes that catches what you miss and acts fast to avoid a crash.
Drowsy Driver Detection
With fatigue comes the slowing down of one’s reaction time while driving, not to mention lowering your ability to stay alert and concentrate. Combine all these and you’re one nod away from an imminent crash.
To avoid this, the Drowsy Driver Detection feature is added to the latest model of the RAM 1500. It works by sending an audible alert and a visual message on your dashboard when your steering behavior, driving pattern, and lane position changes—no facial recognition needed.
Traffic Sign Recognition
Another safety feature added to RAM 1500 2025 is Traffic Sign Recognition. This allows your truck to become your co-pilot and detect road signs and their information when you don’t notice them.
How it works? Through a front-facing camera, the system “reads” speed limits, school zones, stop signs, and other important traffic indicators in real-time. Even in varied lighting and weather conditions, it is still able to detect signs.
The detected signs are then displayed on its Driver Information Digital Cluster or Heads-Up Display on the windshield. Even when there’s unexpected speed limit changes, the RAM 1500 will remind you to avoid accidental overspeeding or immediate braking.
Other Standard and Available Safety Features on the 2025 RAM 1500
Aside from the new safety features added to the RAM 1500 2025, there are plenty more smart safety tech this powerhouse of a truck has. Take note, thoug,h that some safety features are standard while others are dependent on the trim:
Blind Spot Monitoring
This safety tech alerts you when another vehicle is in your blind spot, a most helpful feature when changing lanes.
Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
Combined with the RAM 1500’s ParkSense® Automated Parking System, this feature can warn you of oncoming traffic as you back out of your parking spot.
Surround View Camera System
This safety feature offers a comprehensive bird’s eye view of your truck and its surroundings when parking in tight spaces or when attaching your trailer.
Trailer Safety Tech

As the 2025 RAM 1500 is commonly used for towing or hauling heavy items, trailer-specific safety features must be added. This way, there will be another layer of safety added.
However, trailer safety tech features aren’t available or standard across all trims of the RAM 1500.
- Trailer Hitch Line-Up Assist
An innovative technology that helps drivers with the frustrating task of hooking up the trailer to the truck. The RAM 1500’s rearview camera provides a live visual guide with dynamic gridlines to center it on the trailer hitch.
- Trailer Reverse Steering Control
This particular 2025 RAM 1500 trailer safety tech helps drivers reverse or back up even with a trailer stress-free. Just turn the dedicated control knob in the direction where you want the trailer to go and let the truck’s computer handle the steering adjustments.
- Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System
You no longer have to rely on manual checking of the tires to see which ones are underinflated. With the RAM 1500’s Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), you get live updates on each trailer tire’s pressure on the digital cluster.
If any tire has a pressure below safety levels, you get either an audible or visual alert. The best part is, this system is compatible with all trailers equipped with tire pressure sensors.
- Power Tailgate-Release
With a single press on the key fob, infotainment system, or cabin button, you can open or close the tailgate of your RAM 1500 remotely to load and unload your cargo. No need to use your hands to manually lift it.
- Rough-Road Cruise Control
The 2025 RAM 1500 can weather anything, including towing a loaded trailer on an off-road adventure. This is possible thanks to its Rough Road Cruise Control feature.
No need to manually modulate the gas and the brake pedal. Let the system adjust the throttle and braking automatically to maintain a consistent pace across uneven roads.
Trailer Brake-Controller
Depending on the trailer weight and conditions, you can adjust the trailer brake gain from the RAM 1500’s dashboard. This integrated Trailer Brake Controller helps balance the braking between truck and trailer. Sudden jerks or lunging are prevented with the help of an aftermarket system.
Trailer Reverse Guidance
Backing up a trailer requires visibility and the right angles. With the 2025 RAM 1500, make use of the Trailer Reverse Guidance. It allows you to use the rearview and side mirror cameras to check your surroundings.
Once everything’s in the clear, you can engage the reverse gear so the Uconnect 5 NAV displays the predicted trajectory of the trailer. You will then see the dynamic gridlines, which you can use to guide you.
Selec-Speed® Control
If you’re towing items with the RAM 1500, its Selec-Speed® Control feature adjusts the throttle and brake pressure. This way, your truck and its trailer can go uphill or downhill with stable, hands-free control with better control.
Off-Road Info Pages
Another great safety feature that helps you drive your trailer across uneven terrains is Off-Road Info Pages. Through the truck’s infotainment system, you can see a live feed of the following customizable information:
- Pitch
- Roll Angles
- Steering Angle
- Transfer Case Status
- Suspension Articulation
This allows you to check the trail you’re traversing in real-time.
